Go Daddy, Go Daddy, Go Daddy, Go!
今年の NFL Super Bowl で流されたテレビコマーシャルで、一番成功したのはなんといっても GoDaddy.com だろう。
スーパーボールはその年のアメフトの優勝チームを決める一戦。何週間も前から皆の話題になる。当然テレビの視聴率も高い。よってコマーシャルの広告料は30秒で数億円と言われる。それだけに、スポンサーも気合を入れて作ったコマーシャルを流すので、コマーシャル自体もとても面白い。というのは有名な話。
というわけでコマーシャルもほとんど逃さず見ていたのだが、今年はおかしなことが起こった。2 minutes warning (試合終了の2分前に強制的にブレイクが入る) の時のコマーシャルの一つが、アニメの「シンプソンズ」だったのだ。自局の番組のコマーシャルを、スーパーボール中、しかも一番盛り上がる時に流すはずがない。
何があったんだろうと思っていたが、最近ここを見つけた。GoDaddy.comがスポットを2つ買っていたのだが、最初のコマーシャルがNFLの偉い人の怒りを買ったために、2つ目が急遽「シンプソンズ」に差し替えられたそうな。
その内容は、若い女性(Candiceという女優)が、自分がGoDaddy.comを宣伝するということを公聴会で説明するというもの。問題は彼女が異様にセクシーなこと、タンクトップを着ていること(しかもストラップが片方外れたり)、話している内容は何もおかしくないのに、そのしゃべり方とボディーランゲージがなんともかんとも…なこと。でも、特殊な雰囲気の映像と音声で「ながら見」している人の注意を惹きつけるし、一度見ただけでサイト名はばっちり覚えてしまったし、何をするサイトなのかもCandiceがはっきり説明しているし、妙に強い印象を皆に与えているし…。これは、テレビコマーシャルの目的を全て達成してしまっているのではないだろうか。
実際、Super Bowl 前からもかなり話題になっていて、ワイドショーやニュース番組で何度も取り上げられている。Super Bowl 後でも、ニュースで何度か見た。FOXテレビはGoDaddy.comに対して契約違反をしたわけで、現在行われている「話し合い」で金銭的補償の決着がつかなければ裁判になる。またニュースに取り上げられる。ブロガーも面白がって記事を書く。こりゃすごいよ。
「アメリカで頑張りましょう」からリンクが張られているここで実際の映像が見られる。下のほうの"GoDaddy.com"を探しましょう。記事中でHiroさんは「こんなんで何億もCM代を使ってもいいのか?」と言っているけど、これは今年のSuper Bowl で、一番費用対効果が高いCMだと思うなあ。
