ユーモアのセンスある人希望
つい最近知合いになったばかりのエンジニア、Ｐさんが会社を辞めることになった。ものすごく小さい新興会社に移るそうだ。なんとなくアメリカっぽい話だなあ。少なくとも日本にいた頃にはそういう人を見たことないし。
誰かが去る時には、みんなでさよならランチを食べることが通例になっている。Ｐさんがランチに選んだのは日本食レストラン、"SHOGUN" と言う名前だ.
注文が来るまでにみんなで寄書きを書く。自分たちの製品が特集されている雑誌の余白に、名前とメッセージとメールアドレス。
アメリカでは日本食レストランは全然珍しくなくなった。大都市にはもちろんあるし、僕が住んでいるような小さな市にも５軒以上はある。しかしそれでも、寿司さえも良く知らない人は山のようにいるのだ。
その緑色はわさびです。黄色いのは卵です、いえ魚の卵ではなくて普通の鶏の。ここにたくさん並んでいるのは、それぞれ魚の名前を日本語でかいている訳。いやいや、そういう冗談をいう人は良くいるのだけど、それは「冗談から出たマコト」で、魚という字は本当に魚の絵が元になっているのですよ。
食事が終って外に出ると、結構みんな満足してたみたい。
「いい店だな、憶えておこう。名前は SHOGUN... これは、どういう意味なんだ？」
えーと、それは、何百年も前のサムライの時代に一番偉かった...
「へー、そうか、俺はてっきり店員が銃を打ち始めるかと思ったぜ。ガガガガガってな。はっはっは！」
ん？ん？ん？................ ああ、"SHOT GUN" のことね。
時々、英語でもダジャレを言うことがあるのか、聞いてくる日本人がいる。あるよ、絶対。
