全員、カッコいい。
大抵のマネージャはハンサムである。特にマーケティング。２人ともカッコ良すぎる。顔もいいし、服のセンスもいいし、声もすごくいい。そして、話が非常に上手である。Ｒ＆Ｄのマネージャは、１人は顔は普通よりはいい。体が大きい。見るからに、押しが強そう。もう１人は、ショーンコネリーに似ている。鬚が渋過ぎる。さらにその上のマネージャは美人。しかもいかにも頭良さそうな顔をしている。馬鹿なことを言えない雰囲気が出ている。１人、アジア系のマネージャがいて、その人だけは背も低く、顔も取り立てて美人なわけでもなく、見た目は普通である。が、一言話し始めるとそのきれいな発音と、優雅なな話し方に圧倒される。僕は２言３言話しただけで「この人にはいろいろ相談出来そうだ」と思ってしまった。
総じて、印象が「カッコいい」になってしまう。もちろん仕事の能力も持っているが、みんなそれぞれ短時間で、仕事とは関係ない部分でも何かしら「カッコいい」と思わせるものを持っている。
管理職が何を管理するかというと、まずは部下、つまり人だろう。下の立場から見て、自分を管理する人がでっぷりと太り、醜い顔の額に汗なんかかいて、ふうふう荒い息をつきながら話すのはマイナスに感じてもプラスに感じることは絶対に無いだろう。もちろん仕事の能力が第一ではあるが、人を管理する仕事をするならば、外からの見た目の印象が良いということも１つの能力として認められるのではないだろうか。「太っている人は自己管理が出来ないから管理職には向かない」といった理屈は「カッコ悪い人は人望を得にくいから管理職に向かないよ」という話に少し説得力を持たせようとしてでっちあげたもののようにも思えてくる。
